September 2008 Meeting

Meeting called to order at 7 pm. Meeting held at Paula Hatten's home. Present were Stacey Layman, Paula Hatten, Kathy Servian.

Treasurer's report phoned in to Paula. Checking account balance $6,017.61 and CD $5,000. Treasurer also reported that we had a check clear for $1,125 for our final rent and expenses.

Old business: The JL of Fairmont has officially vacated their office in downtown on Adam's Street. Decision to vacate the office because of shrinking membership, lack of incoming funds, financial savings. Our membership with the Marion County Chamber of Commerce will allow us to hold meetings there for free. We may also hold meetings at member's homes.

New business: It was moved (Paula Hatten) and seconded (Stacey Layman) and unanimously carried that the JL of Fairmont pay the current year's dues for the following members: Stacey Layman, Kathy Servian, Paula Hatten, Nan Branch, Lindsey Lilly. Discussion and decision resulted from the fact that this may indeed be our final year, much of our time has/will be spent winding down activities. Once roster is updated, the League will pay for active members for this 08-09 League year. Situation will be re-evaluated next year.

Post office box- Nan Branch agreed to check the mail at the post office on a monthly basis. Nan was assigned to list all paid sustainers and paid members and provide that to current members. Stacey Layman will update roster online so we can get up to date.

Paula Hatten assigned to contact AJLI to discuss our options (closing down, transferring members to other state league, or staying open). What are our options? This will be discussed at the October meeting (to be held 10/13 at Paula Hatten's home) If we decide to continue through this year, we need to update website information, get our standing up to date with AJLI)

Once this has been decided, we will prepare a letter to members and sustainers to let them know of our action plan.

Next meeting: October 13, 2008, 7 pm, Paula Hatten's home
Meeting adjourned at 8 pm.
